Cyclewise 2016

At Derwent Vale we all love riding our bikes and were delighted to take part in the new
National Cycling Award Scheme 'Bikeability' with the Cyclewise team.

When completing Level 1 training we learned how to take control of our bikes in a traffic free environment.

We cycled around our school grounds and learned how to signal to other road users and manoeuvre our bikes
effectively around any obstacles that were in our way.

Once we proved we had the skills to ride safely and competently we advanced to Level 2.

During Level 2 training we cycled around our village where there was real traffic which we negotiated safely and sensibly.

We had great success and all improved our bikeability.

Now some of us can even cycle to school which is fantastically healthy way to start our day.
