WORLD BOOK DAY

"The books transported her into new worlds and introduced her to amazing people who lived exciting lives. She went on olden-day sailing ships with Joseph Conrad. She went to Africa with Ernest Hemingway and to India with Rudyard Kipling. She travelled all over the world while sitting in her little room in an English village."
- Roald Dahl, Matilda

Cuddles and snuggles were the order of the day as pupils, dressed in an assortment of pyjamas and onesies, settled down on cushions and bean bags to read a good book to either family or fellow pupils.

Milk, hot chocolate and biscuits were also on hand to help the day go with a bang.

Reception children enjoyed a visit to the most appropriate place on World Book Day; Workington Library!

Not wanting to miss out, Nursery children had a visit from a local librarian who enjoyed reading some fabulous stories!

Miss Jennifer seems to be enjoying it too.

For some it was the chance to read a book quietly by themselves, for others it was a chance to read aloud to family.

We all enjoyed World Book Day 2013.
